What is Electro-Pollution?

There are certain exposures we are all vulnerable too, many of the dangers are not widely known. Our pets for instance are much more sensitive to electromagnetic fields (EMF) which doesn’t bode well for our highly networked world where Wi-Fi grows ever more powerful and prevalent. 5G is now being rolled out in New Zealand with many parts of the country now active. Many animal do not like being around routers, which tells us we should honour their preferences and exceptional senses.

Beyond magnetism, and their amazing ability to use the Earths magnetic fields to find their way home, they have other super senses in their ears and nose that exceed our own in many ways. Maybe we should listen to our animals?

What are the hidden dangers to us and our pets?

There’s still a lot we don’t know about the health effects of electro-pollution, but there’s growing evidence that exposure to EMFs can be hazardous. However, further research by scientists around the world is showing that EMFs pose a much more serious threat to health than previously thought. It is believed that the elevated rates of cancer in our pets and us result from higher exposure to these EMF’s.

Cancer is one of the most concerning consequences of EMF exposure in pets, and humans, as it has been connected to emergence of various cancers. Especially with the lymphatic, brain and mammary gland cancers. Even though the precise mechanisms are not still entirely understood. There is a high potential for EMF to damage DNA, induce oxidative stress in cells, and interfere with regular cell to cell communication.

Another review of 26 studies found that low-frequency EMFs cause at least 13 neuropsychiatric effects including depression, memory changes, and sleep disturbances in humans. These effects have also been found in pets along with central nervous system damage added to this list. Many scientists believe that more research is needed into the dangers of EMFs, but it’s clear that exposure can lead to health problems in people and our animals.

What can you do to mitigate the risks for you and your pets?

First, try to make sure that humans and animals avoid close contact with devices that emit EMFs. For example, when talking on your phone, use the speaker function or a headset to keep the phone away from your head. Keep at least an arm’s length away from computer screens, microwave ovens, and other electrical devices as well. Change out the dirty energy lightbulbs in your home for a more user friendly bulb. In addition, it’s a great idea to switch your phone to airplane mode whenever you’re not using it. Airplane mode is one of the quickest ways to reduce EMF exposure.

Electromagnetic Frequencies constantly send signals to and from your phone to locate nearby cell phone towers and Wi-Fi routers. If your phone is in your pocket, you are directly being affected to EMF.

At night turn off your Wi-Fi, ‘smart’ appliances, Bluetooth speakers and T.V at the wall.

Turning off your Wi-Fi can significantly reduce EMF exposure! Nearly the entire population with Wi-Fi leave it on throughout the day and night which can impact your overall health. Remember to always turn off Wi-Fi when not in use and before going to bed. Connect your WI-FI to a switch so you can turn it off at night and when you do not need it during the day. This helps to lower the exposure in your home environment and get a better night’s sleep.

Proper grounding

You may have heard about grounding as it is a big subject in our modern world. Leaving your phone and electronic devices at home or at the office and going outside for a walk with your dog can give you both a real boost. Studies show that most people don’t go outside for more than 30 minutes a day. A majority of them never go out without carrying along an electronic device such as a phone or laptop.

While going outside is imperative to your health, leaving your electronics at home or at the office can give you a real boost that your body needs for optimal health and feeling your best. Once the weather has warmed up, take your shoes off and let your feet connect with the earth. Encourage your pets to stay outdoors on the earth as much as possible, weather dependant. Even a short time of 30 minutes will have big boost for their systems.

Turn Wi-Fi off in the car if possible.

Many cars and trucks now offer wireless connectivity inside such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Cellular service boosting. It may seem convenient to provide Wi-Fi for your passengers, or to allow your phone to connect via Bluetooth to the stereo, but there is a huge downside.

This wireless type of EMF, also known as Radiofrequency or microwave radiation, has significant links to cancer and a number of other health issues. It is especially problematic when this radiation is emitted inside the metal shell of the car, which is similar to an electromagnetic shield, or faraday cage.

If you are able to travel in your car with the airplane mode on, it will help to reduce the dangers to you and your two and four legged passengers.

Nutritional support

You can also help to reduce the negative effects of electro-pollution by giving your human and furry family members healthy, nutrient-rich foods that contain antioxidants. Antioxidants are molecules that scavenge harmful toxins and free radicals in the body, and they play a key role in reducing oxidative stress.

Good sources of antioxidants include fresh fruits, vegetables, seaweeds and supplements with ingredients like green tea extract and vitamins A, C, and E. By providing your loved ones with antioxidants, you can help to strengthen their immune system and protect them from the harmful effects of EMFs.

While many companies are emerging to produce EMF blocking technology, it’s still very new and can be very difficult to find the best EMF block protection. So do your own research if your considering these products.

While we have a cooler nights, why not reintroduce the family nights of board or card games? Play charades, or any other activity as a family you’d like. Give your kids some cherished memories and have a break from technology for one evening.
