Were You Aware?

The Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) is a non-profit organization whose primary goal is to regulate safe practices in the pet and animal food industry, throughout the world. This AFFCCO logo is seen on most processed pets food you will find in retailors nationwide.

Membership includes government officials who are able to regulate how animal consumables are sold. Basically they are guidelines on how to keep an animal alive for a certain period of time, not thrive and have a healthy happy life.

An AAFCO label on pet food is really only the first rung of the ladder as far as base line nutrition, and does not take into account the emotional wellbeing or the brain chemistry effects the product being fed is having.

Also it is not stated what the maximum levels for synthetically added vitamins and or nutrients are. Many can be toxic in high doses, resulting in toxicity poisoning due to over supplementation of the pet. Sadly pets have died due to overly toxic processed pet foods. Recalls, due to over toxicity and the like in commercial pets foods happen weekly – world-wide!

If you go to their official website you will find this. “There is no AAFCO-approved pet food. Most state feed laws and regulations reference to the AAFCO Official Publication as part of the nutritional adequacy labelling for pet foods. This reference is to an AAFCO-established, science-based, nutritional standard.”

If you would like to know what you’re feeding your pet is the best source of nutrition for your pet to thrive, and not just ‘adequate’ for them to survive, get in touch. It is easier and cheaper than you may think.
